The “COLD” entry, very similar to the “HOT” entry has 04 & 05 stacked on the right (even though they could have started on the left side.) 01 ‘gap dribbles’ to initiate 04’s ‘duck-in cut’ & 05’s ‘lob cut.’ Instead of inside passing, 01 passes to 02. Instead of chasing the wing pass as they do in the “HOT” play, both post players do just the opposite. Both empty out of the lane & extend their cuts to the weakside positions.. 01 still flare-cuts off of the flare-screen set by the wing player that did not receive the pass. 02 squares up and if 02 has no shot or driving possibilities, then 02 could either make a ‘skip pass’ to 01 or a ‘reverse pass’ to 03.
The “LARGE” entry is the same entry as the “DOLLAR” entry; except when 05 makes that same type of cut, he stops in the new ballside “short-corner.” The four other players have the same assignments & responsibilities. The only other difference is that players are now in “4-Out of 1-In Short-Corner” spot-ups. After 04 receives the pass from 02, 04 should first look to hit 05 & then to 03 at the new ballside high post. 01 & 02 again exchange locations out on top. It must be emphasized that this “LARGE” entry can also start on the offense’s left side.
Again, it is stressed that this “LARGE” entry can also start on the offense’s left side (with the 01 to 03 pass.) 01 could fake a pass to 03 and instead swing the ball to 02. Then 02 could make the pass to 04. When 04 receives the pass from the guard, 04 could look to hit 05 now in the “short-corner” or make the pass to 03 who has cut to the “high post” elbow area. 04 also could reverse the ball to 01 or make a “skip pass“ to 02. The “4-Out of 1-In Short-Corner spot-ups are now filled & once 04 makes any pass to any teammate, the “LARGE” entry is concluded. The designated zone continuity offense should smoothly begin.
